![]() Simple mode is supposed to be an easy mode that lets you play just about the whole game, while dangling an incentive over your head to use it as practice for beating regular mode, but it really doesn't work that way at all. The other issue was that, once I got the muscle memory from regular mode out of my head and had the simple mode version of her down pat, I tried regular mode again.and was actually having a harder time than I was before because I'd forgotten about the extra attacks and phases she had in regular mode. That's the first issue I actually ran into when I first tried simple mode for the Baroness Von Bon Bon fight. That means the muscle-memory doesn't carry over between modes, even going from regular mode to simple mode can trip you up because you're instinctually trying to anticipate patterns and attacks that aren't present. Entire phases are cut out and patterns are changed significantly to simplify the boss, instead of simply tweaking numbers to make it easier on the player. Regardless of the semantic arguments, though, you've still pointed out literally the exact issue with why simple mode is garbage from a gameplay PoV: you can't actually use it to practice for regular mode. It's also why a lot of games do the whole "you can't get the full-ending on easy mode" bit like Cuphead does. To provide a lower level of difficulty for players to master before moving upwards, instead of just expecting less-skilled players to beat their heads against a brick-wall that they may never get through without some practice. That sounds like one of the purposes of an easy mode to me, yeah. So it's not an "easy" mode, but as you refer to, practice so you can try your hand on regular difficulty. You just can't play against King Dice or The Devil. /r/GamePhysics - Clips of game physics shining and glitchingĭesign based on /r/FlatBlue created by /u/creeschĪctually no, you can advance through the islands by beating bosses on simple mode./r/gaming4gamers - middle ground between purely-for-fun and more serious subreddits./r/GamingLeaksAndRumours - Leaks and Rumors.Posting unmarked spoilers will result in removal and warning, and posting spoilers with malicious intent will result in a ban.
